📖 Tool Introduction

Date Calculator is a free online tool built around the two date questions that come up most often in daily life: how many days actually lie between two calendar dates, and which calendar date lands N days before or after a given day. Computing years of service, maternity leave, round-trip travel durations or a countdown to an exam all depend on these calculations, and doing them by hand on a wall calendar is easy to get wrong, especially once months and years span across, leaving you unsure whether the gap is two years, three months and some leftover days or something else entirely. This tool splits the two jobs into two tabs. The interval tab asks you to pick a start and an end date, then immediately shows the total number of days between them, breaks that figure down as years, months and leftover days, and tells you the weekday of each date together with whether the corresponding years are leap years or common years. The offset tab asks you to pick a base date, type in a day count and choose forward or backward, and then it returns the resulting date and its weekday. Every date operation runs on a UTC calendar, so browser time zones and daylight saving transitions cannot shift the answer, and leap years follow the classic rule of divisible by four except whole centuries, which need to be divisible by four hundred. Everything runs locally inside your browser with no network request, the interface speaks Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English, and it adapts to narrow phone screens without registration, which makes it a handy companion for attendance reports, trip planning and students counting down to exam day. Used at a desk, it also removes the small but constant friction of opening a spreadsheet or hunting through a calendar app whenever a colleague asks how many days are left until a deadline, and the copy button lets the answer go straight into a chat or a note so nobody has to retype the numbers.

✨ Key Features

  • Interval mode outputs both the total days and a precise years/months/days breakdown
  • The weekday of every date is identified automatically at a glance
  • Leap years are detected by the standard Gregorian rule, not guessed
  • Offset mode moves a base date forward or backward by any number of days
  • A one-tap direction toggle switches between plus N days and minus N days
  • One-click copy and download, so results can go into notes or be saved as text

📝 How to Use

  1. Choose the Date interval or Date offset tab at the top
  2. In interval mode, pick the start and end dates with the date pickers
  3. In offset mode, pick a base date, enter the day count and choose forward or backward
  4. Click Calculate and read the days, the breakdown and the weekdays in the result rows
  5. Click Clear to reset, or copy the result into your schedule notes

⚠️ Notes

  • Date picking: use the date picker for valid dates; typed input must follow the YYYY-MM-DD format
  • Time zones: all math is done on UTC dates, so browser zones and daylight saving cannot shift the answer
  • Leap rule: a leap year is divisible by four but not by one hundred, unless it is also divisible by four hundred
  • Local only: every date operation runs inside the browser with no network request
  • Negative days: entering a negative day count in offset mode equals choosing the backward direction, with the same result
