📖 Tool Introduction
The Loan Calculator is a free online estimation tool built for home purchases, car loans and every kind of consumer financing. It centers on the two repayment methods you meet most often in real lending — equal installment and equal principal — and produces monthly payments accurate to the cent, the total interest over the life of the loan, the total amount repaid, and a complete period-by-period amortization schedule. You only need to enter the loan principal, the annual interest rate and the loan term, then choose a repayment method, and the result cards immediately show your first monthly payment, the total interest, the total repaid and the ratio of interest to principal. Beneath them, a scrollable table breaks down every single period: the payment due, how much of it is interest, how much pays down the principal, and the remaining balance after that period. Whether you are comparing mortgage offers from two banks, checking how much pressure an early repayment would bring, or simply explaining to your family how the monthly payment is built up, there is no need to rearrange formulas or fire up a spreadsheet — the page opens and the answer is already there, clear and easy to verify. The whole calculation runs locally inside your browser: nothing is collected, nothing is uploaded, and sensitive financial figures stay on your own device. The interface ships in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English, follows the site theme automatically, and adapts smoothly to both desktop and phone screens, so you can estimate a deal on the bus as comfortably as at your desk.
✨ Key Features
- Two repayment methods: equal installment with a fixed payment, and equal principal with a falling one, switchable in one click
- Summary cards at a glance: first payment, total interest, total repaid and interest-to-principal ratio on one screen
- Full amortization schedule: every period lists the number, payment, interest, principal and remaining balance, scrollable
- Cent-level precision: amounts round to two decimals and the last period is auto-balanced to avoid cumulative drift
- Copy and export: the summary can be copied, and the schedule can be downloaded as a CSV file for your records
- Built-in example: load a typical one-million, thirty-year mortgage scenario with a single click
📝 How to Use
- Type the principal amount into the loan amount field
- Enter the annual interest rate as a percentage, for example 4.9 for 4.9%
- Enter the total number of months, for example 360 for a thirty-year loan
- Pick equal installment or equal principal on the method cards
- Click Calculate to read the result cards and the amortization schedule below
⚠️ Notes
- Valid amount: the principal must be a positive number; empty or invalid input triggers a friendly warning
- Rate convention: enter the annual rate in percent; the tool divides it by twelve into a monthly rate, so do not pre-convert it
- Term unit: the term is in months, so enter the total number of periods rather than the number of years
- For reference: these are theoretical figures; the real repayment follows your bank contract, which may include fees and floating rates
- Fully local: every calculation happens in the browser with no network request, so sensitive financial data stays private
