CSV ↔ JSON Converter
How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
The CSV to JSON Converter is a free online conversion tool built for data wrangling, API integration and spreadsheet migration. In everyday development, backend endpoints often return JSON arrays, while product and operations colleagues prefer opening CSV files in Excel for filtering and pivoting; conversely, CSV exports from Excel frequently need to be fed into test scripts or backend services. This tool builds a bridge between the two formats: it turns a JSON array of objects into a headed CSV with one click, or parses a CSV back into a structured JSON array. The parser strictly follows RFC4180 and correctly handles commas, double quotes and line breaks inside fields; doubled quotes within quoted cells are restored to a single quote, so fields never shift out of alignment. The conversion direction is flipped by the circular swap button in the centre, which also exchanges the input and output content, making round-trip debugging effortless. Three delimiters are supported, namely comma, semicolon and tab, so it fits the semicolon-delimited CSVs common in Chinese business environments. When first-row-as-header is enabled, the first CSV row becomes the object keys and produces an array of objects; disabling it outputs a plain two-dimensional array. Downloaded CSV files automatically carry a BOM so that Chinese text never turns into garbled characters when opened in Excel. Every conversion runs locally in the browser, so your tabular data never leaves the machine, which keeps customer lists and order records safe even in sensitive workflows. The built-in example loads a realistic product inventory array so you can explore the whole pipeline in seconds, and the live character and line counters on both panels help you confirm the volume of what you are working on. Because nothing is uploaded, the tool is just as reliable on restricted intranets as it is on open networks.
✨ Key Features
- Two-way conversion: switch between JSON to CSV and CSV to JSON, swapping content in one click
- Standards-based parsing: RFC4180 compliant, handling quotes, commas and embedded line breaks
- Smart headers: the first row becomes object keys, or output a plain matrix
- Delimiter options: comma, semicolon or tab as needed
- Friendly export: CSV downloads carry a BOM for clean Chinese in Excel
- Fully local: your tabular data never leaves the browser, keeping privacy safe
📝 How to Use
- Confirm the direction at the top: left is the source, right is the target; click swap to exchange
- Pick a delimiter and toggle first-row-as-header if needed
- Paste a JSON array or CSV text into the left panel
- Click Convert and the right panel fills with the target format
- Copy the result or download it as a .csv / .json file
⚠️ Notes
- Array required: JSON to CSV needs a top-level array; wrap a single object first
- Key merging: when objects differ, the header is the union of all keys and missing cells stay empty
- Empty fields: content between consecutive delimiters is kept as an empty string
- Type fidelity: CSV output is always text, so numbers and booleans must be restored when converting back
- Performance: tables beyond one hundred thousand rows are best converted in batches to keep the browser responsive
