Plant Care Reminder
How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
Plant Care Reminder is a free online tool built for anyone who loves growing plants at home. Many plants do not die because they are unloved; they die because nobody remembers how often this particular pot needs water or when it was last fertilized. This tool ships with care schedules for eight common houseplants, including pothos, succulents, cactus, snake plant, monstera, mint, spider plant and clivia. You simply choose the plant type, give it a friendly nickname, and record the date of the last watering; the tool then calculates the exact next watering and next fertilizing dates on its own. Each plant becomes its own care card, using green, yellow and red badges to show at a glance how many days are left, and any overdue cycle is clearly flagged. Once you have watered or fertilized a plant, a single button press resets that record to today and pushes the next date forward automatically. All records are stored in your browser, survive closing the page, and work just as well on a phone as on a desktop, so your whole indoor garden can be managed from one clean list without ever forgetting a pot in a dark corner again. The colored badge system is designed around how people actually check a list in the morning: green means you can ignore that plant for now, yellow means it should be handled within the next couple of days, and red means the cycle has already slipped, which is exactly when a forgotten fern usually turns brown. Because the intervals come from broad houseplant experience rather than a one-size-fits-all rule, the cards always remind you to feel the soil before you pour; a happy plant that sits near a radiator may need water earlier than the default, while one in a cool, shady corner may stretch a few extra days.
✨ Key Features
- Built-in plant library: eight common foliage and flowering plants, each with its own cycles
- Automatic scheduling: next water and fertilize dates are derived from the last recorded date
- Status badges: green normal, yellow due soon, red overdue, so every pot is visible at once
- One-tap check-in: a button press resets watering or fertilizing to today and extends the cycle
- Local persistence: care records live in browser storage for unified multi-plant management
- Copy and download: the whole care list can be copied or saved as plain text for backup
📝 How to Use
- Choose the plant type you want to track, such as pothos or a succulent
- Type a nickname, for example living room pothos, to tell pots apart
- Pick the date you last watered it; today is the default
- Click Add to care and the reminder card appears below
- After watering or fertilizing, tap the matching button to update the record, or delete a plant you no longer keep
⚠️ Notes
- Reference cycles: built-in intervals are common rule-of-thumb values; always check soil moisture, light and season
- Less is more: succulents and cacti prefer being watered late rather than too often
- Accurate dates: record the real last watering date so predictions stay correct
- Local storage: records live only in this browser; clearing site data means re-adding plants
- Empty input: adding without a name shows a friendly hint instead of a blank card
