How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
The Simple Equalizer is a completely free online audio shaping tool that processes sound in real time through the biquad filters built into the WebAudio engine of your browser. No professional software needs to be installed, and nothing is uploaded to a server. It condenses the three-band parametric EQ found on every mixing console into three faders: a low-shelf filter fixed at 200Hz controls the body and warmth of the sound, a peaking filter fixed at 1kHz shapes the core tone of voices and instruments, and a high-shelf filter fixed at 5kHz adds air and clarity. Each band offers plus or minus twelve decibels of gain, and the playing sound changes instantly as you move a fader. A bypass switch lets you flip back to the original audio at any moment for a quick A/B comparison, so you can hear exactly what the processing does. Once you are happy with the tone, the same filter chain is replayed through an offline rendering engine and exported as a standard PCM WAV file saved to your device. The tool accepts MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A and FLAC files, and the whole decode-filter-export pipeline runs locally in the browser, which means your music samples and voice recordings never leave your computer. It works smoothly on both desktop and mobile browsers, and because it needs no account and no internet connection after the page has loaded, it is a handy companion for podcasters tightening vocal presence, musicians balancing a rough demo, and anyone who simply wants a voice memo to sound a little brighter or a little warmer. Because the filters are standard WebAudio nodes rather than effects baked into a file, you can experiment freely: pull the bass down for a cleaner vocal, lift the treble to recover a dull recording, or dip the mid to reduce harshness, and every change costs nothing but a few seconds of listening time.
✨ Key Features
- Three-band parametric EQ: low shelf 200Hz, peak 1kHz, high shelf 5kHz, ±12dB fine control
- Live audition: the playing sound changes the moment you move a fader
- Bypass compare: flip to the raw audio any time for an A/B check
- Transport bar: pause and resume playback from any position
- WAV export: offline rendering of the full track with your filter settings
- Fully local: decoding, filtering and export happen in the browser, zero uploads
📝 How to Use
- Click the upload area to choose an audio file, or drop it onto the dashed box
- Wait for decoding, then press play to start the audition
- Drag the bass, mid and treble faders up or down to shape the tone
- Tick the bypass switch to hear the difference before and after
- Click export to save the processed audio as a WAV file
⚠️ Notes
- Clipping risk: boosting all three bands heavily may clip the signal, keep total gain moderate
- Format support: some browsers cannot decode FLAC or certain M4A codecs, try another format
- Large files: files over 50MB consume a lot of memory, compress them first
- Export quality: output is 16-bit PCM WAV at the original sample rate
- First click: browsers require a user gesture before audio can play, this is normal
