📖 Tool Introduction

The Proxy URL Parser is a handy utility built for developers and operations staff. When configuring an HTTP proxy, a SOCKS proxy or debugging network requests, you often receive an address like http://user:pass@127.0.0.1:8080 or socks5://[::1]:1080, and you then have to manually split it into scheme, username, password, host and port to fill into separate configuration fields. This tool automates that tedious job: you paste the whole proxy URL and click Parse, and the tool breaks every field apart strictly according to URI syntax, while correctly handling the special rule that IPv6 hosts must be wrapped in square brackets. After parsing it also shows a reconstructed URL so you can verify that the split result puts everything back together exactly, character for character. The password field is masked with asterisks by default to stop shoulder-surfing. The whole thing runs locally in your browser: no proxy address is ever uploaded, so sensitive credentials stay on your machine. Whether you are filling a browser proxy dialog, configuring a command-line tool such as curl or git, or debugging an automated script that reads proxy settings from environment variables, this tool saves you from squinting at a long string of colons, slashes and at-signs trying to work out which part is which. It also doubles as a quick sanity checker: if you are unsure whether a proxy string is well formed, paste it here and the parser will either split it cleanly or point out exactly what is wrong, such as a missing scheme, an unmatched bracket, or a port number outside the valid range. Because the reconstructed URL is shown side by side with the parsed fields, you can immediately confirm that nothing has been reordered or lost, which is especially useful when you are migrating proxy settings between systems or writing documentation for your team.

✨ Key Features

  • Multi-scheme support: recognizes http, https, socks4 and socks5 proxy schemes
  • IPv6 brackets: correctly handles IPv6 hosts written as [::1]:1080 with their port
  • Complete field split: scheme, username, password, host and port are shown one by one
  • Password masking: the password is shown as asterisks to prevent visual leaks
  • Reconstruction check: the fields are reassembled into a URL to prove the parse is correct
  • Friendly errors: missing scheme, unmatched IPv6 brackets or bad port numbers trigger clear messages

📝 How to Use

  1. Paste the full proxy URL into the box, for example http://user:pass@host:port
  2. Click Parse and the field list below shows the split result instantly
  3. Read each field: scheme, username, password, host and port
  4. Check the reconstructed URL and confirm it matches the original input
  5. Click Copy result or Download to reuse the fields in your configuration

⚠️ Notes

  • Scheme required: the URL must start with scheme:// or the tool cannot recognize it
  • IPv6 rule: IPv6 hosts must be wrapped in brackets, otherwise colons conflict with the port separator
  • Password masking: for safety the password is asterisked; the copied result does not contain plaintext
  • Port range: the port must be a number between 0 and 65535; invalid values are rejected
  • Fully offline: parsing runs locally in the browser and no proxy address is uploaded anywhere
