Online Document Editor
How to Use
📖 What it is
This editor brings the word processor you already know straight into the browser. Open the page and start typing: headings, body text, lists, tables and pictures all live on the same A4 sheet, and what you see on screen is what comes out of the printer. When you are finished, export a DOCX so a colleague can carry on editing, or send the page to the printer and keep it as a PDF. Six tabs sit above the editing area — Home, Insert, Layout, Review, View and File — with buttons grouped by what they do, and hovering shows each button's name. Your document never leaves the machine: every bit of parsing and file building happens locally in the browser, so it keeps working with the network unplugged, and no sign-up is needed. It also provides case conversion, character spacing, drop cap, code block, emoji picker, footnotes, page borders, HTML and Markdown export, full-screen editing, read-aloud and detailed statistics. It also adds superscript and subscript, multi-level numbering, document templates, paragraph shading and borders, bookmarks, line numbers, table styles, quick parts and document properties.
✨ What you get
- Font family, size, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, superscript, subscript, text colour and highlight are all present — select the text and click, and the common actions have keyboard shortcuts too
- Paragraph controls cover left, centre, right and justified alignment, bullets and numbering, indent and outdent, six line spacings, plus quick switching between body text, three heading levels, quote and monospace
- Tables keep growing or shrinking with row and column buttons; pictures can be picked from disk or dragged onto the page and floated to the left or right of the text; the shape tool offers rectangle, rounded rectangle, circle, triangle, star and arrow
- Headers, footers, page numbers, page breaks, horizontal rules, the current date, common symbols and an automatic contents list are all one click away — the contents list reads the heading levels in your document and jumps to them when clicked
- Paper size covers A4, A3, A5, B5, Letter and Legal; orientation, all four margins and one to three columns are adjustable, and the ruler shows the text area in millimetres while the page reflows as you change it
- Find and replace handles case sensitivity, stepping to the previous or next match and replace-all; word count reports CJK characters, English words, characters without spaces, and the number of tables and images separately
- Watermarks accept any text or an image, can be tiled across the page or placed on any of nine anchor points, with adjustable colour, size, opacity and angle, and the last settings are remembered; they appear on screen and are kept when printing and exporting DOCX
- Every toolbar button carries a locally drawn icon and shows its name on hover, with no external icon library, so it works fully offline
- Right-click inside the editor for 14 actions: cut, copy, paste, bold, italic, underline, clear formatting, find and replace, plus inserting tables, links, images and page breaks
- Watermark opacity now takes effect and the watermark sits beneath the text instead of over it, so even a full page watermark leaves content readable and editable
- Toolbar buttons are now icon only, hovering a button reveals its name, the ribbon is more compact, and every button keeps an accessible label for screen readers
- Headers and footers are now shown on demand, so a new page no longer displays an empty placeholder or divider line; use the header and footer button on the Insert tab to reveal them, and a closed header is omitted from the exported DOCX as well
- The right click menu now follows the site theme with a solid background, border, rounded corners, drop shadow and hover highlight, plus separators between groups
🚀 How to use it
- Type directly on the white sheet in the middle of the page, then use the buttons on the Home tab to set the font, size, colour and alignment — the toolbar always reflects the formatting at the cursor
- For tables or pictures switch to the Insert tab: pick rows and columns on the grid for a table, click the button to choose a picture from a folder, or simply drag an image file into the editing area
- Move to Layout to set paper size, orientation and margins; for custom margins fill in all four values and press Apply, and the column buttons lay the whole document out in two or three columns
- On the File tab choose Save as DOCX to download the document, or save as TXT or HTML instead; when you need paper, press Print to open the system dialog and pick Save as PDF to keep a PDF copy
- Stepping away is safe — the editor autosaves to browser storage every 12 seconds and restores your text next time you open it, while New clears the page and starts over
- Go to the Layout tab and choose Add Watermark, pick text or image, set tiling or single placement, position, colour and angle, then confirm; use Remove Watermark to clear it
⚠️ Before you start
- Import scope:Open handles DOCX, TXT, HTML and Markdown. DOCX is converted by a local parser, so elaborate headers, footers, comments and tracked changes may be simplified
- Pictures:Inserted images are embedded locally. When you export DOCX the layout keeps the picture's position, but the image itself is marked with placeholder text, so hold on to the original file
- Print output:Printing and PDF export rely on the browser's print engine, and page breaks land differently between browsers. Check the overall layout with Fit width on the View tab before you print
- Autosave:Autosave uses browser local storage. Clearing browser data, switching devices or browsing privately will not carry your text over, so export anything important as DOCX
- Browser support:The editor behaves consistently on modern browsers, but older builds may lack some formatting commands. A recent Chrome, Edge or Firefox gives you the full experience
