📖 Tool Introduction

The Class Timetable Builder is a free online tool for students, homeroom teachers and trainers. At the start of a term, arranging seven or eight periods across Monday through Sunday is something nearly every student and teacher has to do. Doing it in a spreadsheet works, but opening the software, resizing columns and merging cells takes a while, and the finished timetable often misaligns on a phone anyway. This tool puts a period-by-weekday grid straight in your browser: every cell is an input box, you click in, type the subject, and move to the next cell, which keeps the whole flow quick and natural. A thoughtful touch is that the cells are colored automatically based on the subject name: type Math once and every Math cell turns the same soft blue, while Chinese, English and Physics each get their own color, so you can tell at a glance where each subject clusters instead of staring at a black-and-white table. The number of periods is flexible: it starts at eight, and you can add or remove a row with one click. Once you are done, click Generate Text and a pipe-separated plain-text table appears below, complete with the title, subtitle and every period of every day. It can be copied or downloaded as a .txt file for pasting into a class group chat, a notes app or printing. The whole grid is cached in your browser, so you come back exactly where you left off next time. Because the tool runs entirely on your device with no server upload, there is no account to sign up for and no wait for a page to reload, which makes it fast enough to use in class while the bell is ringing.

✨ Key Features

  • Direct grid editing: every cell in the period x weekday matrix is an input box
  • Auto color by name: identical subjects share a background color; different subjects differ
  • Flexible periods: starts at eight rows; add or remove a row to match your schedule
  • Seven full columns: Monday through Sunday, with empty weekends simply left blank
  • One-click text export: a pipe-separated table you can copy or save as .txt
  • Local grid saving: every cell is cached and restored automatically next time

📝 How to Use

  1. Fill in the timetable title and subtitle (class name or your name)
  2. Type each subject into its cell; matching subjects share a color
  3. Click Add Period or Remove Period to adjust the number of rows
  4. Click Generate Text and check the exported text below
  5. Copy the text or download the .txt file to share or print

⚠️ Notes

  • Empty slots: blank cells are exported as a dash so the table never misaligns
  • Empty grid: clicking generate with no subjects at all triggers a friendly prompt
  • Coloring rule: colors come from a hash of the subject name, so slight name variants count as different subjects
  • Local storage: the grid lives only in your browser, so switch devices means re-entering
  • At least one row: the minimum is one period; further removal triggers a warning
