How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
Convert between the Chinese lunar calendar and the Gregorian calendar, and list the 24 solar terms for any year, covering 1900 through 2100.
Converting solar to lunar takes a date such as 2026-02-17 and returns the lunar date, the stem-branch year, the zodiac animal, and which solar term that day falls in. Lunar dates come back in Chinese numerals, like the first day of the first lunar month of 2026.
Converting the other way needs care with the month: a positive number is an ordinary month and a negative one is a leap month, so -4 means the leap fourth month. Entering 2026-1-1 asks which Gregorian date the lunar new year of 2026 falls on.
The 24 solar terms track the sun rather than the moon, which is why they line up with the seasons and still drive farming, seasonal eating and traditional holidays. Pick the solar term mode and enter a year to see every term with the date it begins.
The stem-branch cycle pairs ten heavenly stems with twelve earthly branches for a sixty-year round, and the zodiac animal comes along with it, so together they place a year quickly. Everything is computed locally: nothing is uploaded. That also means the conversion works offline, which is handy when you are looking up a birthday or a festival date with no connection.
The lunar calendar drives the dates of Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn and the Dragon Boat Festival, none of which fall on a fixed Gregorian date. It also sets traditional auspicious days for weddings and moves. Because months begin with a new moon, a lunar year runs about eleven days shorter than a Gregorian one, which is why a leap month is inserted roughly every three years to keep the calendar aligned with the seasons.

⚠️ Things to Note
- Range: The lunar calendar covers 1900 to 2100. Dates outside that range cannot be converted
- Leap months: Leap months use negative numbers: the leap fourth month is -4, the leap fifth is -5. Do not drop the minus sign
- Term moments: A solar term begins at a precise moment computed from the sun, so the same term can fall a day apart across years; the exact time governs the day
- Lunar month length: Lunar months run 29 or 30 days, and leap months follow no simple cycle, so they have to be read from the historical tables
- Privacy: Everything is computed locally. The date you enter is never sent anywhere
