How to Use

📖 Tool Introduction

One of the most tedious chores in academic writing is formatting the reference list entry by entry. GB/T 7714 is the bibliographic standard used by Chinese academic journals and theses, while APA is the style adopted widely by English-language social science papers. The two styles differ in field order, punctuation and document-type markers, and hand-assembling them is slow and error-prone. This generator bakes both rule sets in: you pick a type at the top — book, journal, webpage or thesis — and the form reveals exactly the fields that type needs. Fill in author, title, city, publisher, year and the rest, click Generate, and both a GB/T 7714 entry and an APA entry appear at the same time. GB/T 7714 automatically prepends a sequence number and a document-type tag such as [M], [J], [EB/OL] or [D]; APA arranges the fields in the familiar Author. (Year). Title. Source shape. Each result has its own copy button, ready to paste into the bibliography at the end of your paper. All assembly happens locally in your browser and no bibliographic detail is uploaded anywhere.

Reference formatting is one of those tasks that looks small but can quietly cost hours, especially near submission deadlines. Journal policies vary in punctuation, capitalisation and whether the publisher city is required, and a mismatch can trigger editor requests for revision. By generating both GB/T 7714 and APA simultaneously, this tool lets you compare styles side by side and adapt whichever your target outlet demands. It is also a useful teaching aid: students learning academic writing can type a reference they are unsure about and see exactly where the period goes, what the [M] or [J] tag means and how the access date is formatted for online sources. Once you have assembled a few references, paste them into your paper bibliography, order them by first appearance, and the list is ready. Because the tool works offline, you can prepare references even in a reading room without Wi-Fi.

✨ Key Features

  • Four reference types: book M, journal J, webpage EB/OL and thesis D are all covered
  • Dual output: GB/T 7714 and APA are generated simultaneously, no switching buttons needed
  • Adaptive form: switching type shows only the fields that type requires
  • Canonical punctuation: periods and colons between author, title and source are applied automatically
  • Missing-field placeholders: blank fields appear in brackets so you can fill them later by hand
  • Separate copy: GB/T and APA results each have their own copy button

📝 How to Use

  1. Choose the reference type at the top, such as Book
  2. Fill in author, title and the other fields that type requires
  3. Click the Generate button
  4. Read both the GB/T 7714 and APA blocks below
  5. Click the matching Copy button and paste into your reference list

⚠️ Notes

  • Style version: the tool follows the common GB/T 7714 layout; a specific journal may tweak details
  • Multiple authors: list all authors in one field, separated by commas or semicolons as your target journal prefers
  • Volume and pages: enter journal details as Year, Volume(Issue): start-end pages
  • Sample to learn: the example button loads a standard book reference you can study against
  • Fully offline: every assembly happens locally with no network request
