Text Cleaner
How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
The Text Cleaner is a free online tidy-up tool built specifically for messy text copied out of web pages, PDFs, chat windows or legacy documents. You have surely been there: you select a paragraph on a web page and paste it into your editor, only to find leading and trailing spaces clinging to every line, several blank gaps between paragraphs, indentation turned into tab characters, and even invisible zero-width spaces or BOM markers hiding inside. These invisible characters routinely cause baffling formatting problems during code review, Markdown layout and data imports. This tool packages six common types of grime into independently toggleable cleaning recipes: collapse consecutive spaces, remove redundant blank lines, convert tabs to spaces, strip trailing whitespace, purge invisible characters, and merge everything into a single line. Each item can be combined freely, the switches flip instantly, and the before-after strip in the middle shows the live change in character and line counts, telling you exactly how many characters were trimmed. All processing happens locally in your browser without uploading a single byte. The card-style interface makes the toggle switches obvious, and it works smoothly on both desktop and mobile. A built-in example loads a typical messy paragraph in one click, and the Ctrl+Enter shortcut runs the cleaning without reaching for the mouse. Because nothing ever leaves your browser, the tool is safe for sensitive notes and confidential drafts, and it stays responsive even with very long source text. Whether you are preparing a submission for a content platform, normalizing exported CSV rows, cleaning up transcript text from a meeting recording, or fixing a pasted code snippet that arrived with broken indentation, the six switches cover almost every grime pattern you will meet. You do not need to know regular expressions or any editing commands: flip the switches, watch the delta badge change, and copy the clean result in seconds. The interface avoids clutter by hiding advanced options behind a single recipe card, so first-time users always understand what each switch does without reading a manual.
✨ Key Features
- Collapse extra spaces: runs of half-width or full-width spaces become one, tightening paragraphs
- Remove blank lines: consecutive empty lines collapse to one, leading and trailing blanks are cut
- Tabs to spaces: unify indentation style so editors never misalign your text
- Trim trailing spaces: wipe out invisible spaces and tabs hanging at line ends
- Strip invisible chars: zero-width spaces, BOM marks and control characters all removed
- Before-after strip: live character and line counts with a measurable trim delta

- Original kept: results go to the output panel, so you can retune the recipe freely
- Privacy: every step runs locally in the browser; no text is ever uploaded
