Strip HTML Tags
Everything runs in the browser; your text is never uploaded
How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
Strip the tags out of HTML source, or out of anything that carries markup, and keep the readable text.
Copying from a web page, an email template or a rich text editor usually brings the markup along with it, and deleting that by hand stops being realistic the moment the document is longer than a paragraph. This removes all of it in one pass and reports how many tags went, which is a quick way to confirm it did what you expected rather than eating something it should not have.
Script and style blocks are dropped before the general tag pass rather than after it, and that order matters. If the generic removal ran first, the contents of a script element would survive as ordinary text and end up in the middle of your result, which is both useless and confusing. Comments go the same way, since nobody copying an article wants the build timestamp that was sitting in the markup.
Entities are decoded after the tags are gone, so that an escaped tag cannot be mistaken for a real one: an ampersand entity becomes an ampersand, the escaped angle brackets become actual angle brackets, the non-breaking space becomes a space, and numeric entities are resolved to their code points. Anything not in the table is left exactly as it was rather than being guessed at.
Two modes cover what people actually want. Collapsing to plain text folds every run of whitespace into a single space and gives you one continuous block, which is right for pasting into a form or a message. Keeping the line breaks turns paragraphs, line break elements and list items into real newlines and tidies the indentation, which is right when the shape of the original still matters.
Everything runs in the browser, so what you paste never leaves your device.
✨ Key Features

- Script, style and comment blocks are dropped before the general pass
- Decodes HTML entities, both named and numeric
- Two modes: collapse to plain text, or keep the line structure
- Reports the source length, the result length and the number of tags removed
- Runs locally: nothing is uploaded
🚀 How to Use
- Paste the HTML source on the left
- Pick a mode on the right: plain text, or keep the line breaks
- Press process, or use Ctrl plus Enter
- The result box shows the text and the count of tags removed
- Copy result puts it on your clipboard
⚠️ Things to Note
- Data source: Based on HTML tag syntax and entity definitions; conversion runs in the browser
- Not a full parser: This works on the shape of tags rather than parsing a document tree, so badly malformed source can leave fragments behind
- Tables: In line break mode a table becomes one cell per line; the original layout is not reconstructed
- Unknown entities are kept: A named entity that is not in the table is left as it is rather than being replaced with a guess
- Privacy: Everything runs in the browser. What you paste is never sent to a server
