PDF Split
e.g. 1-3,5,8-10; leave empty for every page
How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
A tool for breaking one PDF into several. Pick a file, choose how to split it, and one click produces multiple files you download one by one. Everything runs in the browser and nothing is uploaded.
Three modes: one file per page, for taking a whole document apart into single pages; one file per N pages, for cutting by chapter in batches; and by page range, where you write something like "1-3,5,8-10" yourself and only those pages are pulled out. Ranges accept comma separated page numbers and hyphenated intervals, and a malformed entry produces a clear message rather than silently emitting a pile of empty files.
The total page count is visible before splitting, and afterwards you get the output file count and combined size. Page content, rotation and dimensions carry over untouched, so nothing gets squashed or turned sideways in the process.
Which mode you want depends on what the output is for. Distributing by chapter to different people is most direct with every N pages, provided each chapter runs the same length. Pulling out a few specific pages to send on their own is most accurate with a page range. Breaking a whole document into single pages for per-page handling calls for one file per page. Splitting never alters page content or dimensions, it only regroups them, so whichever you pick each page looks exactly as it did before.
For a sense of performance: a normal document of a few dozen pages usually splits within seconds, while a few hundred image-heavy pages may take anywhere from ten seconds to half a minute. The progress bar reflects where things stand in real time, and once it completes everything has been generated, which is the safest moment to press download.
One detail is easy to miss: split files are named by sequential number starting from 1, ignoring the original filename. So if you plan to send the results to someone, rename them by content afterwards or include chapter information in the filename. Note also that splitting handles only the first file you upload, one document per run, so process several documents in separate rounds.
✨ Key Features
- One file per page, turning a whole document into a set of single pages
- One file per N pages, convenient for batch cutting by chapter
- Custom page ranges supporting mixed intervals and singles like "1-3,5,8-10"
- Page numbers deduplicated and sorted, so repeats never produce duplicate pages
- Out-of-range numbers are dropped silently instead of aborting with an error
- File count and combined size shown before saving, for judging transfer convenience
🚀 How to Use
- Click the upload area to pick a PDF, or drag one in
- Choose every page, every N pages, or by page range
- In range mode, type an expression such as 1-3,5,8-10
- Press start and wait for the progress bar
- Press download to save each split file
⚠️ Things to Note
- Many files download one at a time: Results trigger downloads in sequence, and browsers may ask whether to allow multiple downloads
- Very large files hit memory limits: The whole document loads into memory, so extremely long or heavy files can fail
- Ranges must be well formed: Use digits with hyphens and commas only; other characters are ignored and nothing is produced
- Encrypted PDFs cannot be read: Password-protected files cannot be parsed and report a failure
- Nothing is kept on a server: All output stays on this device, and a refresh means processing again
