📖 Tool Introduction
The Hex Viewer is a completely free, instant-use online binary inspection tool. When you debug a file format, check a magic number header, dissect a network packet, or figure out why an image or document looks corrupted, the fastest way to understand what is going on is to look at the file at the byte level. This tool brings the classic hex dump into your browser: upload any file (under 10MB recommended), it is read into memory as an ArrayBuffer and sliced into evenly spaced rows of 16 bytes each. On the left, an 8-digit hex offset is shown in cyan, in the middle the raw bytes of that row are printed with a small gap between the first and second eight, and on the right the matching ASCII characters are shown in green, with non-printable bytes replaced by a dot. To avoid freezing the browser on huge files, every page holds a fixed 48 rows (about 768 bytes), and you page through with Prev and Next buttons while the footer shows the current page, the total page count and the total byte size. Once a page looks right, you can copy it straight to your clipboard. Because the tool only parses bytes in your browser memory and never talks to a server, you can even open sensitive binaries without any leakage. The interface is available in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English, follows the website theme colours automatically, and works smoothly on both desktop and mobile. A built-in example synthesises a small buffer that starts with a PNG-like magic header, followed by an ASCII payload and a block of sequential bytes, so you can immediately see how offsets, the split between the two byte groups and the ASCII column behave. The monospace terminal-style screen keeps every column perfectly aligned, and non-printable bytes never disrupt the layout. No registration, no installation and no network requests - just drop a file in and inspect the bytes.
✨ Key Features
- Classic layout: 8-digit offset + hex bytes + ASCII, the standard hex dump view
- Aligned rows: 16 bytes per row with a gap between the two halves for easy counting
- Paged viewing: 48 rows (~768 bytes) per page so large files stay smooth
- Colour cues: cyan offsets, white bytes, green ASCII for fast scanning
- ASCII conversion: printable characters as-is, non-printables as dots
- Fully local: bytes are read in browser memory only and never uploaded
📝 How to Use
- Drop a file into the dashed box, or click to pick one (under 10MB)
- Inspect the three-column hex dump in the dark terminal screen
- Page with Prev / Next; the page number and total count update live
- Click Copy Page to paste the visible rows into a note or ticket
- Click Clear to inspect the next file
⚠️ Notes
- Size: keep files under 10MB; slice larger ones before inspecting
- Paging: 48 rows per page; copy only grabs the visible page
- ASCII rule: only 0x20-0x7E render as characters; other bytes become dots
- Offset: offsets are 8-digit hex, starting from 0x00000000
- Privacy: binary data is parsed entirely in browser memory and never uploaded
