How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
The Binary String Extractor is a completely free, instant-use online reverse-engineering helper inspired by the classic Unix strings command. Executables, shared libraries, firmware images and archives often embed copyright notices, URLs, error messages and debug symbols, yet opening them in a normal editor only shows a wall of garbage. This tool brings that capability into your browser: upload any binary file (.exe, .dll, .so, .bin or firmware image), it is read into memory as an ArrayBuffer and scanned byte by byte, and every contiguous run of printable ASCII bytes (0x20 to 0x7E) that passes your length threshold is pulled out and listed in a dark table with its hex offset, byte length and the raw text. You can tune the minimum length: a higher threshold gives fewer, cleaner hits, while a lower one stays close to the raw data. At most one thousand rows are kept so that very large files stay responsive, and you can copy everything at once or export a TXT that includes the offset column. Because the tool only parses bytes in your browser memory and never touches a server, you can even use it on unreleased internal binaries without any leakage. The interface is available in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English, follows the website theme colours automatically, and works smoothly on both desktop and mobile. A built-in example synthesises a small binary with padding bytes and several ASCII runs, so you can immediately see how offsets, lengths and filtering behave. The hex offset column pairs naturally with a hex viewer, letting you jump from a found string to its exact position in the file. Long strings wrap within the monospace table so no horizontal scrolling is needed, and empty runs of non-printable bytes are simply treated as separators. No registration, no installation and no network requests - just drop a file in and inspect the hidden text.
✨ Key Features
- Classic algorithm: scans printable ASCII runs (0x20-0x7E), matching the classic strings tool
- Offset locating: every row shows its hex file offset for cross-checking
- Adjustable length: threshold 3-64 to control result density
- Dark table: monospace three-column layout with wrapping for long strings
- Bulk export: copy all or export a TXT with offset, length and text columns
- Local parsing: bytes are read in browser memory only, never uploaded
📝 How to Use
- Drop a binary file into the dashed box, or click to pick one (under 20MB recommended)
- The table lists offset, length and content automatically
- Adjust the minimum length and click Re-extract to filter noise
- Click Copy All, or export a .txt to save the results
- Click Clear to analyse the next file
⚠️ Notes
- Scope: only printable ASCII runs are extracted; wide (UTF-16) strings are not supported
- Size: keep files under 20MB; slice larger ones before analysis
- Cap: at most 1000 rows are kept; longer result sets are truncated
- Noise: a threshold that is too low floods the list with junk; start at 4
- Privacy: binary data is parsed entirely in browser memory and never uploaded
