HEIC Converter
Photos taken on iPhone are HEIC by default, which most Windows PCs, websites and printers cannot open. Convert them to use anywhere.
Everything runs locally in your browser; images are never uploaded. Transparent areas become white when converting to JPG.
How to Use
📖 About this tool
HEIC Converter turns the HEIC and HEIF photos taken by an iPhone into ordinary JPG, PNG or WebP files. Apple made HEIC the default camera format back in 2017 because it stores the same quality in roughly half the space, but the trade-off is poor compatibility: a Windows machine without the optional codec extension simply refuses to open it, most website upload forms reject it outright, and plenty of office printers, older Android phones and desktop editors do not recognise it either. Drag those photos in, pick a format, and seconds later you have images that open everywhere.
Decoding happens entirely inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server, which matters a great deal when the photos in question are personal. You can drop in a whole batch at once and download everything as one ZIP archive.
✨ Features
- Batch conversion - drop in any number of .heic or .heif files with a per-file progress bar.
- Three output formats - JPG for maximum compatibility, PNG for lossless output with transparency, WebP for the smallest files.
- Adjustable quality - a 10% to 95% slider so you decide the trade-off between fidelity and size.
- Maximum width limit - shrink a 4000-pixel original straight down to 1080 and skip a later step.
- Thumbnail preview - each result appears with a thumbnail and its output size.
- ZIP download - collect every converted file in one archive with the original names kept.
- Local decoding - the decoder ships with the plugin, so there is no external service and no image leaves your machine.
🚀 How to use
- Click Choose images or drag HEIC photos onto the dashed area; multiple selection works.
- Pick an output format - JPG is usually the safe choice - and set the quality.
- Optionally enter a maximum width such as 1080.
- Press Convert. The first run downloads the decoder engine, so allow a moment.
- When it finishes, download single files or everything with Download all as ZIP.
⚠️ Notes
- The first conversion loads a decoder of several megabytes; the browser caches it afterwards.
- Converting to JPG fills transparent areas with white - choose PNG or WebP if you need transparency.
- Some HEIC files carry a rotation flag; if a photo comes out sideways, rotate it in a viewer first.
- A few HEIC files written by non-standard encoders may fail to decode. Re-export from the phone using its most compatible setting.
- Conversion strips EXIF and other metadata, so do not use it on files whose capture data you need.
