📖 Tool Introduction

Audio Trimmer is a completely free online cutting tool built to extract exactly the segment you need from a longer recording. After you drop the audio onto the page, the browser decodes it fully with the Web Audio engine and draws the whole waveform in grey on the canvas. You type the desired start and end times into the two input boxes, and a red highlighted region follows your input in real time, so you can check the cut range visually before committing. Before exporting you can press Preview selection to hear only that part of the recording and confirm the boundaries. Once you are happy, press Export WAV: the program copies the samples between start and end precisely from the decoded AudioBuffer, encodes them with a 44-byte standard header plus little-endian PCM16 into an uncompressed WAV file, and downloads it straight to your device. That output format has the widest compatibility — virtually every player, editor and recording device can open it. It is ideal for pulling a needed statement from a long interview, cutting the chorus of a song for a ringtone, removing silence and room noise at the head and tail of a recording, or slicing a podcast clip for reuse. Every step — decoding, copying and encoding — runs locally in the browser, the original file is never touched, and the audio is never uploaded to any server. Exporting as uncompressed WAV means there is no second lossy generation: the samples you cut out are written bit-for-bit from the decoded buffer into the new file, so a clip extracted at 0.0 seconds is identical to the corresponding portion of the source. The red region on the waveform gives a spatial preview of the selection as you type, and before committing you can press Preview selection to hear exactly the range that will be exported, removing guesswork about where the cut lands. Because the start and end fields accept decimals, you can land precisely on a breath, a click or a musical downbeat rather than being rounded to whole seconds.

✨ Key Features

  • Second-level precision: start and end accept decimals and cut at the sample frame
  • Waveform selection: the red highlight updates live as you type
  • Preview selection: listen only to the cut range before exporting
  • Standard WAV: 44-byte header plus little-endian PCM16, uncompressed and compatible
  • Original stays safe: decoded data is read only; the local file is never modified
  • Local processing: decoding, copying and encoding never touch the network

📝 How to Use

  1. Click the dashed area to choose an audio file, or drop it onto the page
  2. Enter the cut range in Start (seconds) and End (seconds)
  3. Check the red region on the waveform to confirm the range
  4. Press Preview selection to hear whether this segment is what you want
  5. Press Export WAV to download the trimmed clip

⚠️ Notes

  • Decoding limits: opening a file depends on the browser decoder; some formats may fail
  • Time bounds: start must be smaller than end and within the total duration
  • WAV size: uncompressed WAV is large; long clips can reach tens of MB
  • Sample rate: export keeps the original rate and channels without resampling
  • Auto download: the browser may block the first download; allow it once and it works
