China Postal Code Lookup
The database ships inside the plugin; queries never leave your device
How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
Look up mainland China postal codes across 2,879 district-level records, by zip code, by place name, or by administrative division code.
Postal codes come up whenever you fill in a courier slip, send registered mail or type a delivery address. Enter a place name to get its six-digit code, or paste a code back in to find out which district it belongs to.
Searching by zip may return more than one row, because a single code often covers several neighbouring districts. In that case every match is listed and separated by province and city so you can tell them apart.
Searching by name matches loosely, so "Dongcheng" finds every record containing it, and pinyin is matched too, which helps when you only know how a place is pronounced. Searching by division code is the most precise route, since a six-digit code maps to exactly one district.
Every record carries its pinyin, useful for confirming how an unusual character is read and ready to copy. The whole database ships inside the plugin: queries never touch the network and nothing is uploaded. That design also means the result appears as you type rather than after a round trip, which matters when you are filling in a form and only need one field.
Postal codes in mainland China are six digits, where the first two point at the province and the next one narrows it further, so a code carries rough geography even before you look anything up. Reading one left to right is therefore a quick sanity check: if the first two digits do not match the province you expect, something in the address is probably wrong.

⚠️ Things to Note
- Data source: Compiled from published postal code records: 2,879 district-level entries with province, city and pinyin
- One code, several districts: A single postal code often covers neighbouring districts, so a code lookup can return several rows. Use the province and city columns to decide
- Name search: Name search is loose and matches province, city, district and pinyin, so different places sharing a name may all appear
- Works with division codes: A six-digit division code maps to exactly one district and is the most precise way to search. It pairs well with the division code lookup tool
- Privacy: The database ships inside the plugin and everything runs locally. Nothing you type is sent anywhere
