Working out how far apart two dates are sounds simple, but there are two different answers depending on whether you count days or read the calendar, and they often disagree.

This tool reports both: the exact number of days, the same span expressed in weeks and months, a calendar breakdown into years months and days, and the working days once weekends are removed.

It also runs the other way: start from a date and project forwards or backwards by a chosen number of days.

Every figure you type stays inside this browser tab. The arithmetic runs as plain JavaScript on your own device, so nothing is uploaded to a server, nothing survives after you close the page, and there is no account to create or sign in to. You can enter real numbers without worrying about them leaving your machine.

What comes out is a mathematical projection built on the assumptions you supply, and the assumptions are the part worth checking. 1. Choose the mode: difference or projection
2. For a difference enter the start and end dates; the order does not matter
3. For projection enter the base date and days, then choose forwards or backwards

5. The working day count excludes public holidays, so subtract those yourself

⚠️ Things to Note

• Time zones and daylight saving: Day counts align at UTC midnight so time zones and daylight saving do not affect them. For cross-zone schedules use local time
• Workdays exclude holidays: The workday count skips weekends only and ignores public holidays and shifted rest days. Verify separately for HR or contractual use
• Calendar differs from raw days: When broken down by calendar, unequal month lengths make the result differ from a simple division by thirty, which is expected
• Computed locally in your browser: Every figure is worked out inside your own browser and nothing is sent to a server. The values disappear when you close the page, so you can safely enter real numbers
