📖 Tool Introduction

Circle Crop is an in-browser tool that turns any photograph into a perfectly round avatar, built for social profile pictures, membership badges and round icons. After you upload a photo, the tool automatically scales it to cover the whole circular area and centers it for you; everything outside the circle boundary is cut away, so there is no need to drag a selection box by hand. The exported canvas is a square, and everything outside the circle follows your background choice. Pick transparent and you get a genuinely transparent PNG that can sit on top of any base color. Pick white, black, or use the color picker for a custom tone, and the ring outside the circle is filled with that exact color, which is convenient for avatar slots that always show on a fixed background. Four export sizes are offered — 200, 400, 512 and 1024 pixels — and 512 pixels covers the avatar requirements of nearly every platform out there. The cutout itself is composed with a true Canvas circle-path clip, so the edge stays smooth and free of jaggies, and because every calculation happens on your own device, the photo never touches a server, which matters when the picture is a real face you would rather keep private. The interface switches automatically between Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English and follows the site theme on both desktop and mobile. The tool fits right into the moments people actually prepare avatars: trimming a wedding photo for a chat profile, cutting a product shot for a badge on a membership wall, or generating the round icon a blog asks for in a specific size. Cover cropping means you never see awkward empty bars — the face sits centered and fills the circle, even when the source is a wide landscape. Transparent output drops straight onto dark themes, light themes and colorful banners without a white square around it, while the solid-color modes are meant for slots that always render on a fixed card. The four export sizes cover favicons at 200 pixels, chat profiles at 400, social avatars at 512, and print-ready round badges at 1024. Because the whole pipeline is local, cutting a face out of a photo feels as private as editing the file yourself, and the exported PNG keeps the smooth anti-aliased edge you see in the live preview.

✨ Key Features

  • Auto center: cover scaling fills the circle and crops the sides
  • Three backgrounds: transparent, white, black, plus a custom color picker
  • Four sizes: 200 / 400 / 512 / 1024 pixels in one tap
  • Smooth edges: circle-path clip compositing with no jagged rim
  • True transparency: outside the circle stays fully transparent
  • Fully local: the photo never leaves the browser, stays private

📝 How to Use

  1. Click the drop zone to upload a portrait or any photo
  2. Watch the circular preview; the face is centered automatically
  3. Choose a background mode: transparent, white, black or custom
  4. Pick an export size; 512px is recommended for social avatars
  5. Click Export PNG to save the circular avatar file

⚠️ Notes

  • Framing: cover cropping removes the sides, keep key content centered
  • Best ratio: square photos crop most completely with centered faces
  • Transparency: only PNG supports transparency, other formats fill white
  • Huge files: compress images larger than 20MB before uploading
  • Original stays safe: all compositing happens in memory, the local file is untouched
