Image Inverter
How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
Image Inverter is a free online tool for reversing colors, letting you turn color pictures into a negative-film look or invert a single channel to craft unique tonal styles. The math is straightforward: every color channel of every pixel ranges from 0 to 255, and inversion simply subtracts the original value from 255, so black becomes white, white becomes black, red becomes cyan, green becomes magenta and blue becomes yellow. The tool offers four modes: inverting all channels reverses red, green and blue at once for the classic negative look; inverting only the R channel leans the image toward a cool cast; inverting only G produces a vintage color shift; and inverting only B brings a warm split-tone feel. After you upload an image, it is computed pixel by pixel with the active mode, and clicking the colored channel chips switches between them instantly for comparison. Every calculation runs locally through ImageData in your browser, your pictures are never uploaded, and the result is exported as lossless PNG. Inverting all channels is the fastest way to turn a daylight photograph into a dramatic night-scene draft, or to recover faint pencil markings from a dark scan where the writing itself has faded into the paper. Inverting a single channel is more experimental: swapping only red pushes warm skin tones toward cyan, an effect once popular on album covers; swapping only blue warms the shadows toward amber, like an old sunset slide. Because the operation is linear and exact, applying the same inversion twice restores the original pixels bit for bit, so you can experiment freely without risking the file, and whatever mode you choose the preview updates immediately before you download the PNG. The result always keeps the original width and height and preserves the alpha channel untouched, so silhouettes and logos invert their colors but never lose their shape.
✨ Key Features
- Full-channel inversion: R, G and B reversed together, classic black-white negative
- Single-channel inversion: reverse only R, G or B for color splitting effects
- Exact formula: strictly 255 minus the channel value, no approximation
- Instant switching: all four modes in one click, effects compared at a glance
- Transparency kept: the alpha channel is untouched, transparent areas stay clear
- Local processing: per-pixel math runs offline, zero uploads for privacy
📝 How to Use
- Click the upload area to choose an image, or drag one into the dashed box
- The tool processes the image automatically with the default full inversion
- Click the R, G or B channel chips to compare single-channel results
- Check the preview and the channel info line to confirm the result
- Click Download inverted to save the PNG file
⚠️ Notes
- Inversion math: result = 255 minus the original channel value, pure black swaps with pure white
- Single channel: when only one channel is inverted, the others stay unchanged
- Transparency: the alpha channel is not inverted and transparent areas remain transparent
- Large images: pictures over 20MB should be compressed first
- Original stays safe: the export is a new file and the local original is untouched
