Chinese Latin Spacing Fixer
Everything runs in the browser; your text is never uploaded
How to Use
📖 Tool Introduction
Add a space between Chinese and Latin characters or digits automatically, or run it the other way and strip unwanted spaces out from between Chinese characters.
Mixed script text without any gap is cramped and hard to scan. A phrase naming a phone model next to a Chinese verb runs together into one dense block, and inserting a single space on each side of the Latin part makes the same sentence readable at a glance. This is a well established convention in Chinese typesetting, sometimes called the space of Pangu, and it is one of those small things that distinguishes text that has been prepared from text that has merely been written.
The decision rests on which writing system each character belongs to. Han characters, kana and full width punctuation form one group, and Latin letters and digits form another. A space goes in when the two groups meet and nothing happens when characters of the same group are adjacent, so a passage entirely in Chinese comes through untouched and a passage entirely in English does too.
The removal direction solves the opposite problem, which is just as common: text copied out of a typesetting tool or a PDF arrives with spaces wedged between Chinese characters, and they have to come out in bulk. Only spaces sitting between two Chinese characters are removed, so the spaces inside an English phrase are left alone rather than being collapsed along with everything else.
The result reports how many positions were adjusted, which tells you whether the pass touched what you expected. Everything runs in the browser, so what you paste never leaves your device.
It is worth knowing where the convention stops. Established product names keep whatever spacing their maker chose, and text that has already been prepared by a designer needs no second pass, since a tool like this cannot tell a deliberate space from a missing one and will add another just as readily. Running it once over raw text, before anyone has laid it out, is the job it was built for.

⚠️ Things to Note
- Data source: Based on the usual conventions for mixed script Chinese typesetting; conversion runs in the browser
- Punctuation counts as Chinese: Full width punctuation is treated as a Chinese character, so it gets a space next to Latin text too
- Existing spaces are not doubled: Adding never inserts a second space where one is already present
- Avoid code and URLs: Source code, URLs and command lines must not gain spaces; do not run them through this
- Privacy: Everything runs in the browser. What you paste is never sent to a server
